Course Summary
The Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders is a qualification aimed at anyone working in or preparing to work in any industry that involves the retail sale of alcohol. It is a prerequisite for anyone who wishes to hold a personal licence.
With the use of the Highfield e-Learning Portal, we are now able to offer remote learning option for the delivery of this course.
Who should take this course?
By law, any licensed premises that sells alcohol requires a personal license holder to make or authorise those sales. This course is suitable for anyone looking to acquire the required APLH licensing qualification.
This includes Designated Premises Supervisors (DPS), managers, supervisors and anyone wishing to work in these positions.
English APLH or Scottish SCPLH?
Please ensure you select either the English or the Scottish version of this qualification depending on where you will be working.
This course is for licence holders in England. If you will be working in Scotland, you should qualify through the Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders Course & Assessment (SCPLH).
Course Content
The e-learning package covers all aspects of the Level 2 award syllabus. It equips learners with an understanding of the laws and regulations relevant to personal licence holders.

Course Assessment
Once you’ve completed the course and you’re ready to do your assessment, you simply log into the secure invigilation platform with your details. You will then then carry out the assessment under exam conditions, using your smartphone and a webcam to verify this.
Setting up your equipment is easy and we’re on hand to support you if there’s a problem. Note that during the assessment, you will also need a quiet area where you’re not going to be disturbed.
