Qualification Overview

Comprehensive understanding of first aid along with an understanding of how important medical/environmental intelligence is when dealing with a range of casualties.

This qualification is the ideal course that can be specifically related to specialist roles such as SIA Close Protection Operatives and SIA licensed Door Supervisors, and SIA licensed Security Operatives and anyone who works in remote areas, hostile environments or where there could be mass casualties. It meets the SIA requirements for CP licence/renewals first aid qualification and re/qualification.

Qualification Structure

This qualification consists of three mandatory units, which learners must complete successfully in order to achieve the qualification:

  • Unit 1 – First Aid at Work
  • Unit 2 – Medical Intelligence and Environmental Awareness
  • Unit 3 – Understand the Correct Use of an AED

To be able to complete the course you must attend, comprehend the learning outcomes (see further details) and pass all the practical and theoretical aspects required.

Duration of the Course

Our course is delivered as a blended course, with 3 days attendance, as well as an e-course which covers the full First Aid at Work knowledge content.The e-course is accessible for a full year from first access. In additionour extended days will include consideration of working in hostile environments, as well as an additional topicwhich covers the use of tourniquets and hemostatic dressings

Entry Requirements

Learners are required to be 16 years of age prior to certification. It is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy.

ID Requirements

It is the responsibility of the centre to have systems in place to ensure that the person taking an assessment is indeed the person they are claiming to be.

Assessment

The qualification is internally assessed by both on-course assessment theory and practical assessment along with some distance study/ assessment that investigates the area of medical intelligence and environmental awareness.The course includes on-going practical and theoretical learning and assessment and may include some off-course study.

Progression

Upon successful completion learners may wish to continue their development via the completion of any of the signposted qualifications/training:

  • Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid
