A range of subjects is covered including: MARSEC, SOLAS and the ISPS code, Security Interaction, Duties of a Ships Security Officer, Threat Identification, Recognition and Response, Ships Security Assessments and Plans, The 3 Security Levels, Security Actions and Equipment, Practical Security Drills and Exercises, Responsibilities and Reporting, Port State Security Controls, MSC 89, BMP4 and High Risk Areas.
Aim: The course is aimed at Aspirant Ships Security Officers and Ships Security Staff, plus people who are hoping to move into the Maritime Security (MARSEC) Industry Sector and provide security staff or work as an independent contractor. Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSC). Privately contracted armed security personnel (PCASP), armed employees of PMSC. Assessment is ongoing throughout the course by the instructor, along with a multiple choice question paper during each module/day’s programme. An MCA SSO accredited certificate will be issued on completion of the course.
