Security Guarding

The EDI Level 2 Award in Security Guarding (QCF) is a programme designed to meet the needs of learners requiring a qualification enabling the application for an SIA licence for security guarding. It is based on the SIA specification (2009) for core competency training for security guards covering the necessary understanding of the security industry and subject related security functions.

Aim: To provide the learner with the basic knowledge and understanding required to ensure the provision of a professional level of service as a security operative and to address the SIA licensing requirements.

Objectives:

  • Develop the learner’s understanding of the roles and responsibilities of security officers working in the private security industry and the relevance of regulations within which they must operate.
  • Develop the learner’s knowledge of health and safety in the work place including awareness of emergency procedures.
  • Enable the learner to implement effective methods of communication and reporting.
  • Develop the learner’s abilities to recognise, defuse and resolve conflict situations.

The EDI Level 2 Award in Security Guarding (QCF) consists of the following three mandatory units:

  • UNIT 1 Working in the Private Security Industry
  • UNIT 2 Working as a Security Officer
  • UNIT 3 Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry

As you will be taught by active security officers, not only will you be taught the required skills, you will also benefit from our experience, which cannot be learnt from an exercise book.
